Sabrina Philipp on the FastForward Amy Show

Sabrina Philipp is the founder and CEO of a 7-figure business that has helped countless entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs design their own intentional, manageable, and profitable businesses worldwide. She has appeared on Forbes, The Independent, Cosmopolitan, Goalcast, and Business Insider.

When everyone told her to stick to her day job, she said no thank you, jumped on a plane, and flew to Bali with $800 in her back pocket, believing that she had what it took to hack the whole entrepreneurship thing. From here, the journey really took off. She started Sabrina Philipp International right from her laptop and used the power of sales and social media to build her own million-dollar business — in less than a year!

Since then, she has traveled the entire world from Hong Kong to Australia, and from London to New York with her partner in crime and love and business, Paul. Listen to the podcast episode with Sabrina here.

Principle #1: Selling is an act of service

Euwh, salesmen! A lot of people have had at least one poor experience with salespeople in the past. Consequently, they tend to categorize everyone in sales as all the same.

But in fact, there's nothing wrong with selling. Selling is an act of service. What you're basically doing is providing someone with a product or service to make their lives happier, better, and more fulfilling.

If you're scared to get into sales, or feel insecure, hire someone who can help you get better – a coach, a corporate sales trainer, or someone else who can teach you how to close big deals. Someone who can help you sell a heater to a snowman if you had to.

Being good at sales is a skill. It's not a talent like singing. Therefore, invest in sales training. Anyone can learn to sell. This includes you, too.

Principle #2: Choose your clients carefully

Starting as an entrepreneur, it can be hard to know who your ideal clients are. In reality, you have to kiss a few frogs before you find your prince – like anything else in life.

You may start working with someone, but after a while, realize that the fit isn't there. And really, that's fine. You need these clients to begin with. You'll only know who to work with if you know who you don't want to work with.

Rather than thinking you've been wasting time on a client, look at every situation as an opportunity, and learn from it. Now, if you end up in a situation where you have to fire a client that's alright; it can be challenging but play it cool and move on.

Principle #3: Emergencies don't exist

You may think your world is on fire, but in reality, there are no true emergencies. Anything can be resolved with a clear head and a few emails.

However, if you find yourself in a situation where everything comes crashing down on you, take a step back, and put on the hat of the neutral observer.

When you're in the fire, everything is burning, but if you step away for a moment, you'll see that it isn't so bad after all and realize that maybe you're the one pouring the gas while lighting the fire.

Shifting to a position of the neutral observer comes with practice, and the more you practice, the faster it will be for you to let moments of fire pass in a minute rather than holding onto it for days.

Principle #4: Find inspiration 10 steps ahead instead of 2

To really grow your business, you need to have the courage to go against the grain and do – what at that time – may seem like the odd or unpopular thing to do.

Don't create a business that looks like any other business out there. Create something of your own, be an innovator, and if you are going to look at someone for guidance, aim high.

Look at someone who is 10 steps ahead of you, not someone who is at the same level or even just two steps ahead. That's just a waste of time. And even more, your growth is going to be slow.

So, next time you doubt about something, think about this: what's the person 10 steps ahead of me doing or thinking?

Principle #5: Don't let fear hold you back

Fear is a powerful creature that can hold you back for a day, a month, and even a lifetime.

Moments of hesitation are perfectly normal. It's a way most people use to cope, to find safety in a given situation. If you're in a similar place, acknowledge that it's okay to be scared and move on. To get the results you want, you need to take action.

Remember, everyone has to start somewhere. And whether it seems impossible or overwhelming, don't leave your worries or problems at the door. Welcome the opportunity, and the outcome will inherently be positive rather than negative.

“I like to say it gets better and better” – Sabrina Philipp

If you're not used to thinking like this, it can be challenging at first, but by time, it creates a path in your brain, opening new doors to new opportunities.

Principle #6: You are always the boss

Whether you're an entrepreneur or an aspiring entrepreneur, you'll meet many different perspectives on basically any topic – sales, marketing, finances…you name it.

But remember, you create your own reality, and that may not always match with popular opinion. That's okay. Don't think about what your environment will think. Their reality doesn't match yours. So what?

If someone is trying to influence your decisions or want you to make a change, put it on a scale and think to yourself: is it worth making a change here? Do I want to let that opinion impact my life?

Of course, a strong support system is important, but only as long as it doesn't become a distraction to you and your business. You need to eliminate any unnecessary distractions to feel solid in who you are and how you run your business.

Principle #7: Outsource to scale

If there's something most starting entrepreneurs struggle to let go of, it's control. But if you want to scale, outsourcing is the only way.

You may be good at everything because you simply had to do everything on your own in the beginning. And naturally, you'll be able to do things better and maybe faster than anyone else – at least day one. But what about day 100?

Providing proper training and aligning expectations are both critical when you start outsourcing. The win is giving your team the support they need to begin with, so they – in the long term – will be better than you in their given field.

Principle #8: Money isn't real

Disclaimer: Money can buy you things that are very real. It allows you to buy food and resources. But…

If we look at money in itself, it's just a concept that's artificially created and used to transact value. If financial institutions burned down, we would find other ways to transact with each other – just like we did in the past.

In reality, money doesn't have as much power over you as you think. Everyone typically makes it seem like a life or death thing, but in the end, it's about giving and receiving value. Therefore, you need to think to yourself: how can I be of more value?

And more importantly, be aware of what price you're giving away this value. You're never going to receive more than you believe you can have. So, rewire your mind to think about how you can be of massive value. That’s the thing that attracts income and investments.

If you start to think like this, you can have anything you want. It's your reality, remember? But you need to show up for what you want and go for it. Action is what will get you the results.

These words conclude the eight principles that you can apply to your life and business today. Now the rest is up to you – trust the process and enjoy the ride; it's all going to be fine.
