Have you ever held yourself back because you were afraid of what others would think?
Have you ever not done something because you were afraid it wouldn’t be good enough? Or because you felt other people’s things might be better?

You’re NOT alone!
Most people I know struggle with this, including myself and my clients, and it’s something that makes us all very emotional.
I know this because, whenever I talk to my clients about fears and mindset in my coaching calls, we tend to choke up fast.
When a landing page or our email provider isn’t working, we don’t cry about it; we fix it. When our mindset is holding us back however, it’s a different story.
Fear of failure, imposter syndrome, and the judgment of others are all strong emotions rooted in our core. They paralyze us and prevent us from taking action.
If you recognize any of these feelings, stay put because I’m going to share with you how you can turn these feelings around and become your own biggest cheerleader.
Let’s look at some of the voices in your head that are fueling your imposter syndrome and fear of failure and let's BATTLE them.
Remember, you've got this!
Voice #1 What if I’m not good enough compared to my peers?
Everybody else is already doing it, so why would anyone choose me?
Let’s make something very clear from the beginning: you are unique. You have something to offer that no one else has, and THAT is what will make you stand out from the rest of the crowd.
You need to use your voice and show the world your uniqueness.
It took me some time to realize this too, but I like to think about it like this: if you’re about to launch a new product or service, ebook, or webinar, sure, other people have created similar things about the same topic.
But you shouldn't let that stop you because YOUR way of communicating, educating, and delivering the topic will be unique to you.
For instance, there are thousands of other business coaches out there. Potential clients will never be able to find all the information online that I’m handing out because it’s infused with my personal experiences, the experiences of my clients, and all the knowledge I have gained since I began coaching.
Start reframing how you think about what everybody else is doing, and tell yourself:
Whatever I create, I infuse it with my own view on things and my own expertise. I am an authentic authority.
When you do this and connect your identity with your knowledge, you can create things that are uniquely you.
Don’t be intimidated by what everyone else is doing. Think of it as inspiration and a sign of proof that it can be done. If she can do it, you can do it too. If other people are doing what you want to do, and it’s a success, it can be a success for you, too!

Voice #2 What if I don’t know enough to help others?
“I could never do it as well as my competition is doing it. What if they know more about this topic than I do?”
“I don’t know enough to help my clients.”
Do any of these voices sound familiar? I bet they do!
I’m battling these voices, too. No matter how many programs or webinars I launch, sometimes I still feel like, “oh, this I want to improve,” or “I’m not sure this was good enough.”
But let’s be real for a second: if you can help people one step forward, you’re ALREADY doing better compared to not helping them at all. You’re already doing them a huge service. Keep this in mind whenever you doubt yourself and the value you can provide.
Honestly, I have never launched a program without wanting to improve it. Each round, I learn, and every time I hope to increase the quality incrementally.
The same goes for you. If you start working with people, you sometimes only have to be ONE step ahead, and for each customer you work with, you learn and improve.
Remember, I have talked about iterative development before. This is it, and it’s the only way you can improve everything you do.
Sure, you can attend countless conferences, webinars, coaching programs, or get an extra degree to become more skilled. However, the reality is the BEST education you can get is by starting to work with people. Step by step, you will learn, improve and be able to help them even better. The feedback that you get will be the stepping stone for your improvement.
Don’t postpone perfection. Start imperfectly.
Voice #3 What if my environment doesn’t believe in me?
To start combatting your environment's disbelief, I want you to check your own judgment.
Do other people really not believe in you, or are you projecting your own judgment upon others because you’re dealing with your own fear of failure?
My guess is: other people believe in you BIG time, and when it feels like your environment isn’t supportive, it may actually be rooted in your core. You don’t believe in yourself.
It can be terrifying to admit it to yourself, but there’s a way out. I promise.
Grab a pen and paper and write down your insecurities. Let your fearful thoughts flow, and write down all the words that come to you. It doesn’t have to make sense; it needs to get out.
And remember, you’re already good enough. In the future, you’ll be even better. Therefore, check your own judgment and stop projecting it upon your environment.
Now, there might be another reason why you feel as if others don’t show their support towards you: maybe they are projecting their own fears onto you, they don’t understand what you do and why it’s so important to you.
If this is the case, sit down with your family, friends, or partner, and explain to them why you’re doing what you do, be that building a webshop, setting up a business, following a course, or something completely different.
Make it clear why it’s so important to you to make your dreams come true, and if you can, explain the potential upside of it, like the return on investment in the long run.
Therefore, when it comes to getting your environment onboard with your dreams, goals, and business, it’s often a matter of including them more. Include them in what you do and what it means to you; don’t assume they know.
Suddenly, you’ll have a lot more support than you thought.
Be your own biggest cheerleader to battle your inner voices
It’s safe to say; you have to be your own biggest cheerleader to battle whatever voices are popping into your head. If there’s anything I want you to remember from this showdown, it’s this:
- Believe in yourself, and play to your authenticity. You have a unique gift that no one else has. You owe it to the world to share that gift.
- Don’t postpone perfection. Start imperfectly, and keep improving and learning. Work iteratively with anything you launch.
- Check your own judgment. Include your environment in what you do and clarify why it’s so important to you to make your dreams come true. Have an open chat about it.
With that said, sometimes you outgrow your environment, and it’s paramount that you then find a new environment that truly supports you. That’s why we have created the FastForwardFamily Facebook group.
