Create Content In Under 30 Seconds On Vacation – The FastForwardAmy Show Episode 144

August 16, 2022 By fastforwardamy Leave a Comment

If your business or brand relies on you creating content, being on vacation can be difficult. How can you keep creating content and stay present with those around you?

Currently, I am traveling a lot with family and friends and I needed to come up with a way to create content while still remaining present with those around me.

That is why I did this week’s podcast live on Instagram. This is okay because the value of my podcast is in the content and not the production.

Focus on bite-sized content

When on vacation, some people like to fully switch off. If your business is doing well or you are somewhere where you could create amazing content, maybe you don’t want to totally switch off while you’re traveling.

However, you may be thinking ‘how do I make content without messing up my vacation?’

Recently, reels and TikToks have grown to be the most popular type of content. This is great because it makes it easier again to quickly shoot short, bite-sized content and not be taken away from your family and friends.

At a recent event at Meta, an expert on reels told us that accounts that post more reels content on their feed will grow much faster than accounts who don’t.

I can see that the world of reels is still such a blue ocean — there is not much competition. That is why I decided to help you figure out how to create more easy content which you can also use for reels and TikToks.

Over time, I have discovered how to balance content creation and stay present. I do devote some of my holiday to content creation — even getting my mom to help — and I have some pointers for you on how to do it too.

Build a consistent personal brand

Building a personal brand is one of the most powerful things you can do.

How am I doing this and how can you do this too?

The short answer is, don’t think in terms of TikTok or Instagram — think in terms of your brand.

I got so good at creating long-content, and I had really built up a brand on Instagram. So, learning how to make bite-sized reels and TikToks made me really feel like a beginner again.

The things you do every day create your brand and that is what you should be recording.

This is a concept by Gary Vee, he says document and don’t create.

If you run a store, and you’re finding the idea of creating content really overwhelming, what I would say is try and create the same image every day or that you can use again that reflects you and your brand.

I will take a photo of me in my walk-in mirror closet, or at the gym, or eating breakfast, or maybe a video that I can re-use as a reel — all because these are things I do every day and they fit in with my brand.

How do I actually create content in under 30 seconds?

So, what content am I actually shooting in less than 30 seconds? Whenever I make content, I’ll take a video and a photo.

If I’m in a nice place, I’ll take one photo and one video. I can re-use those videos for reels, TikToks, etc.

I am always thinking in terms of transitions, 10-second clips, and in terms of documenting and not creating.

It could be that you dressed up and you look nice anyways, so you could ask the person next to you to quickly snap one photo. Bam, now you have some content!

It is not content creation that takes time, it is content editing and production. When you’re alone, that is when you can edit, post, or caption content.

In the moment, you can create in under 30 seconds by just getting that one photo and video.

Final tips for creating content on vacation

Content creation can be made out to be so difficult, but if you want to create content on vacation here are my recommendations:

  • Just use your camera, don’t edit in the apps you are using
  • Think document, don’t create
  • Film transitions (pouring your wine, opening a bottle, tying your hair, walking around) – this creates a surprise element which is vital for reels and TikToks.

RECAP

To sum everything up, I am going to leave you with 3 questions based on this week’s episode that will help you take what I’ve said and make it actionable. To find out more tips and lessons about creating content and staying present, listen to the rest of the episode here.

  1. What is the one thing that you’re going to do differently by the end of this live?
  2. Are you going to film whenever you arrive somewhere?
  3. Are you going to take the same picture every day?
