I've been thinking about maybe selling my house to move to the city with my boyfriend – but I'm not sure yet (as it is my dream house and I really do enjoy living here).
Millennial instead of mid-life crisis, I guess.
Although I'm thinking of selling it – at the same time I've chosen to go ahead and repaint some rooms and buy new furniture.
This doesn't seem to make ANY sense to my environment – why would I redecorate if I plan on maybe leaving?
Because I believe objects in motion stay in motion.
And often we wait for big decisions, and press ‘pause' on our entire life as a result. But we don't want pause. We don't want stagnant.
We want to MOVE FORWARD. (That's the forward piece in #fastforward, after all!)
So, let me take you through my thought process…
I spent all winter feeling low energy and sad and I realized a lot of this was because of the environment in my house. Though moving to the city would mean selling my house, I’m not selling it overnight.
Making the changes that make me feel energized and feel good about my home office will help me and my business and that’s why I’m continuing to improve my home despite thinking about leaving it.
This week, I want to talk to you about the value of taking action and not waiting. Don’t wait for the what if moment, keep working and improving and you will achieve abundance sooner.
Never borrow from tomorrow.
I live by this quote. It means don’t postpone until tomorrow what you can do today.
Sure, I could sell my house in 6 months so why decorate it? At the same time, I’m thinking about decorating carefully. I’m doing financials and figuring out how it adds value to the sale value, as well as improving the space I work from.
Procrastination is the enemy of progress.
By taking action and doing the redecorations I want I am adding value to the house and I’m giving myself more energy by improving the space. This means more energy for my business, and overall more abundance.
Why aren’t you doing the things you’re thinking about?
When we do find ourselves postponing, it’s really important to ask ourselves ‘why?’
What is the rational reason we’re procrastinating? Is it rational at all? Is it because of fear? Or worse, is it because we’re afraid of what people will think?
I often think that the biggest things I've done in my life, or my best decisions, were decisions no one else supported or no one else got because it seemed contrary to how they were behaving.
Don’t wish for things, want them.
As kids, we are taught ‘I would like’ is much more polite than ‘I want’. That’s true in a restaurant, but I don’t agree that ‘I want’ should totally fall out of our vocabulary.
I believe that one of the most powerful things we can teach ourselves is to learn how to say what we want.
Are you living according to getting what you want? Or are you living according to invisible rules that aren't really rules, but rather limiting beliefs?
There’s no such thing as the right thing or way to do things when it comes to your success. It's not real. Everything involves risk — working for someone else and starting your own business. You may as well follow your truth.
Regardless of what's real, what do you want? What if you just listen to that and then let everything else solve itself?
This was my short life update turned abundance talk on The FastForwardAmy Show. I hope you liked it, and if you are struggling with your mindset right now, I have a really great book that I wrote.
My Belief Book, which is about imposter syndrome, fear of failure, and procrastination, is now available in both English as well as in Dutch.
If you want to check it out, I'm giving it to you for free through fastforwardamy.com/beliefbook.
I would say have fun with the Belief Book. Have fun discovering what you want and what you are allowed to want.
