5 Power Habits to Fuel Your Success with the Business Dad Vincent Vandeputte – FastForwardAmy Show Episode 60

January 12, 2021 By fastforwardamy Leave a Comment

Do you remember the time as a kid when you were always so excited for Christmas? That’s exactly how I feel today with my very special guest sitting right here next to me.

Let’s welcome the Business Dad.

If you’ve been following along for some time, you’ll know that the Business Dad is also my actual dad and rally partner.

He’s already been on the show several times to talk about sales, productivity, and mindset. Every time has been amazing, and today is going to be no exception—especially with the topic we’ve prepared for you.

We’re going to talk about SUCCESS HABITS.

However, before we dive in, I asked the Business Dad to share 5 quick fun facts about himself:

  1. He doesn’t know left and right.
  2. He speaks 6 languages.
  3. He can say ‘Thank you’ in 30 languages.
  4. He loves everything that has to do with historic rallies.
  5. He’s rowing and training to complete 42 kilometers in one go.

With these skills and ambitions, it’s not a surprise I asked him to join me today to talk about success habits.

So, let’s kick off.

#1 Keep a morning routine

My dad and I share many things, and keeping a consistent morning routine is one of them.

I know you’ve probably already read a lot of articles and books about the importance of morning routines, but what I often find is that they are too complicated.

Remember, it’s not the complexity of your morning routine that’s going to make you succeed. Instead, it’s the fact that you consistently do the thing you promised yourself to do.

You need to find a simple morning routine, and one you can easily complete without skipping out on it every other day. In the end, you’ll only end up disappointing yourself.

I swim, walk on the treadmill, or use the rowing machine in the morning. The Business Dad is also a huge fan of the rowing machine, just like he also takes an ice-cold shower every morning.

In the end, it’s not about what you do, having a swimming pool, or a home gym. It’s about showing up for yourself and starting the day with good intentions, so you can feel proud.

So, get over yourself and don’t start debating with that inner voice of yours. Do the thing you set out to do, and I promise you, you’re going to feel so much better.

#2 Look neat and clean

It’s not just because he’s my dad, but oh my god, he dresses so immaculately.

The Business Dad strongly believes that if you have a tidy office, the quality of your work is better. If your car is clean, it drives better.

And the same goes for your looks. I know this is a very controversial topic, but I still want to address it.

There are many reasons why you want and should dress up. In the beginning, the Business Dad dressed up because he needed positive attention. Then a shift happened, and he did it to be taken more seriously. Now, however, he does it out of respect for the people he’s meeting or seeing.

Perhaps you’re not meeting anyone at the moment but think about it as a gesture towards yourself. It’s a way to wire your brain and mind to make yourself a priority and someone you respect.

Looking neat and clean doesn’t have to involve a suit and tie or a pencil skirt. But if you wear a T-shirt, wear a nice one. If you wear comfortable pants, wear a nice pair.

If you drink wine, drink nice wine… oh no wait, that was not what this paragraph was about! Hah!

In short, make yourself a priority—every day!

#3 Be consistently consistent

Action is key.

Consistency is key.

You’ve probably heard these phrases a thousand times, and I’m going to keep repeating them.

A lot of people talk about intuitive entrepreneurship, and some entrepreneurs succeed this way, kind of like a unicorn capacity. For instance, some will launch a podcast every third month, and it might be hugely successful, BUT that’s the exception.

You need to stay consistently consistent to grow as an entrepreneur. The easier route is to adhere to a set of rules, put in the work, take action, and show up consistently.

The core of being successful is to be consistent and disciplined. It’s about doing the small things you don’t like doing, but then doing them anyway because it’s what will give you the results in the long-term.

It goes for your morning routine, looking neat and clean, showing up on social, publishing an article, sending out that newsletter….you name it.

#4 Don’t be afraid to share what you know

Whenever I talk about content marketing, creating freebies, and sharing educational content with my followers, there is always someone raising their hand because of the fear: “What if I give away too much good stuff?”

But that’s precisely the point.

Don’t think about it as giving away information.

Think about it like this: “I’m not giving everything away; I’m sharing what I know. Now, you have something, and I have something.”

Remember this whenever you have doubts about sharing your awesome content with your community.

The urge to share and inspire is, in fact, the reason why the Business Dad is starting his own podcast. He wants to motivate and inspire you and support you whenever you need support.

Tune in to listen to the first episodes of the Business Dad podcast, starting Monday, January 18.

#5 Expect great things to happen

When you wake up in the morning, don’t make yourself ready for the battle of the day. Instead, prepare yourself for all the good things that are going to come your way.

Expect abundance to happen, and abundance will flow in.

There are so many great things and abundance going around that you can have some of it too, but only if you believe it to be true.

Maybe you open up your email, dreading what horrible problems you have to solve. Wire your mind to think differently and welcome all the good news that’s waiting for you.

In short, expect great things to happen.

This last one concludes the 5 success habits you can start practicing right now to lead a happier and healthier life and build and run a successful business.

  1. Keep a morning routine
  2. Look neat and clean
  3. Be consistently consistent
  4. Don’t be afraid to share what you know
  5. Expect great things to happen
