If you want to build an email list, you need to collect email addresses.
People don't want to randomly give you their email address. This is why you need a lead magnet: a free download or ‘offer' people want to give their email address in return for!
An added bonus of offering a lead magnet is that it's a great way to get feedback from people on what you have to offer. You can test people's interest, see what they want and don't want… That's why it's important to keep your first lead magnet short and sweet!
Follow my step by step approach to easily create a lead magnet. Do not deviate from these steps for optimal results.
Note: I only recommend software I personally use. I might receive a commission when you buy anything through these links.
1) Grab a piece of paper (without lines)
2) Write down the question you would like to answer for your audience
This is now also the title of your lead magnet!
example: “How can I be more productive in my mornings?” or “How to be more productive in the mornings”
3) Write down the outline of your lead magnet on this white piece of paper
i.e. the different ‘subtitles' or content pieces of your lead magnet
4) Write down the takeaways per content piece (subtitle) you would like your reader to take away from your guide
5) Outline your content visually:
meaning write down your head title, sub titles and takeaways per point and give your page some initial layout
It's important to do this on paper before you start using layout software.
6) Format your lead magnet digitally in canva.com
7) Include your branding on your lead magnet
Use your 2 branding colors you chose earlier* and include the name of your brand at the bottom.
